GBADS – Global Burden of Animal Diseases

GBADs in Aquatic Systems in Indonesia

During 20th-22nd May, Anne Meyer and Jonathan Rushton (GBADs) ran a Workshop  on the GBADs in Aquatic Systems in Indonesia.

GBADs and Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional RI (BRIN RI) are building a strong collaboration. While the terrestrial livestock case study is making good progress, we have been applying GBAD’s methodology to the shrimp production sector as well, under a project funded by FAO. This week, we presented the results of that work to a diverse and enthusiastic group of private and public sector stakeholders. Thank you to PT Mitra Asia Lestari for the support.

The workshop combined both a training aspect and presentation of the case study preliminary results.

Workshop objectives:
• Build capacity in animal health economics in the aquaculture sector.
• Raise awareness and understanding of GBADs and its application to different production systems.
• Present and discuss the preliminary results, and how they could support decision-making.
• Describe the data already accessed and identify other datasets which could be used to enhance the analysis.
• Build shared learnings with the team implementing the terrestrial livestock case study.
