On Monday, 29th September 2025, GBADs and DECIDE hosted the ninth official seminar in a series between the two projects. The aim of each presentation this year is to continue presenting research that interests our audience. You can find the recording of all the talks below.
The four presenters; João Afonso, Sara Babo Martins, Charlotte Doidge, and Stan Jourquin, all provided insightful presentations with an engaging discussion at the end with various questions from the audience.
João, who started the seminar, is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh, working on assessing the burden of antimicrobial resistance in livestock. Sara, who is also a Honorary Research Fellow at the Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh, with a focus on the One Health approach, especially in antimicrobial resistance, rounded off the GBADs AMR presentation. The next presentation was by Charlotte, who is an Assistant Professor in Livestock Social Epidemiology, University of Nottingham. Her research focuses on farmer and veterinarian decision making and practices related to livestock health, welfare, and technology. We then ended the seminar with Stan, who is a Postdoctoral researcher in Bovine internal medicine at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ghent University, focusing on calf health and the use of quick thoracic ultrasound for pneumonia diagnosis in Calves.
Presentation one: João Afonso and Sara Babo Martins from GBADs presented their work on the GBADs AMU/AMR dashboard
Presentation two: Charlotte Doidge from DECIDE discussed Living Lab user design aspects of the Cattle Barometer.
Presentation three: Stan Jourquin from DECIDE presented the Cattle Barometer tool development and the technical work.
We would like to thank João, Sara, Charlotte, and Stan for presenting to the consortium. With a big thank you to the consortium for their questions and a good discussion. If you would like to hear more about the Seminar Series, please contact gbads@ed.ac.uk
