GBADs presented at The British Society of Animal Science

From April 9th to 11th, Emma-Jane Murray, University College Dublin, displayed a poster on the livestock biomass and stock value trends in the Irish cattle sector at the British Society of Animal Science Conference in Belfast. The conference’s theme was ‘the role of livestock in our ecosystems and economy’.

A wide range of talks were held throughout the conference on the importance of achieving the right balance between the ecosystem and the economy. With special highlights on:
• circularity of animal production, soil, land use and food systems as a whole
• delivering practical solutions to reducing the burden of endemic diseases with consideration of farmer livelihoods
• on-farm efficiency
• precision technologies
• reducing emissions on farm
• the future of animal welfare when addressing environmental challenges
