GBADs presents at the Alternatives to antibiotics in pigs: Paving The Way To A Sustainable EU Pig Production Stakeholder Meeting

Joao Sucena Afonso attended and presented at the “Alternatives to antibiotics in pigs: Paving The Way To A Sustainable EU Pig Production” Stakeholder Meeting which took place at The University of Copenhagen, Denmark on the 6th May. The event showcased the key findings from the AVANT and PIG-PARADIGM projects and created a collaborative platform for scientists, veterinarians, farmers, policymakers, and other key stakeholders.

AVANT aims at developing and testing the efficacy and sustainability of alternatives to antimicrobials for the management of pig enteritis, as this health condition is a significant contributor to antimicrobials used in food animals. The alternatives being studied include gut microbiome modulators, innovative medicines targeting the pathogen or the pig immune response, and feeding strategies for disease prevention.
